PokePark Kanto: Tokyo’s First Outdoor Pokémon Theme Park Set to Open in 2026

VisitWaseda.com – Get ready, trainers — in early 2026, Tokyo will become home to PokePark Kanto, the first-ever permanent outdoor Pokémon theme park, opening within Yomiuri Land in Inagi City.

Spanning 26,000 square meters and nestled in the scenic Tama Hills, this new destination promises an immersive Pokémon experience that brings your favorite creatures to life year-round.

A Tribute to the Classics — and to Tokyo

The park’s name, PokePark Kanto, is a nod to both the iconic Kanto region featured in the original Red, Blue, and Green games, and its real-world counterpart — the Kanto area of Japan, where the park is located.

Although no actual footage has been released, an official announcement video unveiled a detailed miniature diorama, teasing the park’s aesthetic and layout with a whimsical, handcrafted charm.

What to Expect Inside the Park

PokePark Kanto will feature two main zones: Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town, each offering a distinct adventure.

Pokémon Forest

This nature trail stretches about 500 meters, guiding guests through lush paths, tunnels, and sloping terrain. Along the way, visitors will encounter Pokémon in their “natural” habitats — hiding, interacting, or playfully wandering about.

Sedge Town

Serving as the park’s bustling hub, Sedge Town is centered around a Primarina-themed fountain. It will house a Pokémon Center, Pokémart, and a Trainers’ Market, where fans can shop exclusive merchandise. There’s also a Sedge Gym, offering a chance to test your trainer skills, and a Pokémon Greeting Parade for meeting beloved Pokémon characters up close.

In addition, two major attractions — rumored to include a Pikachu ride and a Pokémon carousel — are currently in the works, though further details have yet to be announced.

When Can You Visit?

Ticket sales are expected to begin in phases starting fall 2025, with pricing and reservation details to be revealed as the official opening date approaches in early 2026.

Until then, fans can fuel their excitement by joining events like the 2025 Pokémon Stamp Rally or diving into the Pokédex to rediscover Pokémon history and lore.
